AHN's Dr. Arvind Venkat Leads Pa. College of Emergency Physicians

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Allegheny Health Network (AHN) emergency physician Arvind Venkat, MD, FACEP, has been named president of the Pennsylvania College of Emergency Physicians (PACEP).
PACEP is the largest emergency medicine professional organization in the Commonwealth with over 1,700 emergency physician, emergency medicine resident/fellow, and medical student members across Pennsylvania. PACEP is the state chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Venkat will lead PACEP during 2019-2020 in its mission to advocate and support the primary role of the emergency physician in the delivery of emergency medical care, serve as an aggressive advocate for patient care and public health, provide leadership in continuing medical education, graduate medical education and research, provide medical leadership in the advancement of the state EMS system, and advance emergency medicine as an essential service of the evolving health care system.
PACEP regularly engages with the state and multiple local governments, hospitals, emergency medical services organizations, other medical societies, and the public in ensuring that quality emergency care is available to all Pennsylvanians.
“Dr. Venkat is an accomplished clinician, researcher, leader and advocate for emergency medicine. His work with PACEP will benefit our patients, who turn to us as the true safety net in the health care system, offering medical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year,” said Thomas Campbell, MD, Chair, Emergency Medicine, AHN.
Dr. Venkat obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Harvard University and his MD from Yale University, and completed his emergency medicine residency training at the University of Cincinnati. He serves as Vice Chair for Research and Faculty Academic Affairs in the Department of Emergency Medicine of AHN.
