Things you need to know for under 18

Based on completed clinical trials, the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine and the Moderna vaccine have both received emergency use authorization from the FDA for children ages 6 months to 17 years.

  • Bring a parent or guardian

If you’re under 18, you need to bring a parent, legal guardian, or authorized representative to provide consent and hang out with you during the whole vaccination session. This can take about 15 minutes to an hour.

  • Who’s eligible

Everyone ages 6 months and up is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at no cost. View the latest COVID-19 vaccine guidelines from the CDC to learn more.

  • Vaccine types

For ages 12-17, Pfizer-BioNtech and Moderna are both a two-dose vaccine. For ages 12-17 who are immunocompromised, you should receive an additional third dose as a part of your primary series.
