AHN is the official medical provider for some of the region’s top athletes. We are part of an elite provider network selected by the U.S. Olympic Committee to care for Olympic hopefuls. We are also the official medical provider of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC soccer team and the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team.
Our athletic trainers are licensed, meaning they passed rigorous exams demonstrating their expertise. Some of our athletic trainers are also licensed physical therapists, giving athletes comprehensive access to care for sports injuries. We work alongside AHN’s orthopaedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians to coordinate additional treatments when necessary. Meet our orthopaedic and sports medicine team.
Our athletic trainers are out in the community at sports practices, games, and special events. We deliver a broad range of services so athletes can stay safe while doing what they love. To learn more about the teams we care for, see our athletic trainer services roster.
Our services include:
Every member of our athletic trainer team is experienced in assessing concussions. These brain injuries may occur if you receive a hit to the head. We start your care immediately, using mobile concussion evaluation technology (C3Logix). This technology helps us make an accurate diagnosis so we can determine the next steps in your care and ensure your safe return to play.
For serious concussions or symptoms that do not get better with time (post concussion syndrome), athletic trainers work with sports medicine physicians and physical therapy to coordinate additional treatments. Your care may include specialized therapy to improve coordination or referrals to other AHN experts, including neurologists. Get more information about our Concussion Center.
