Curriculum

MR

  • A total of nine MRI magnets are used for clinical work at our various locations in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Referrals from all medical/surgical divisions, including hepatology, pancreas, urology, oncology, and gynecology allow for a wide spectrum of pathology.
  • Exams include liver, MRCP, pancreas, renal, adrenal, prostate, rectal cancer staging, enterography, perianal fistula, vascular studies, and pelvic womens imaging, including staging of cervical and myometrial cancer, adnexal/ovarian, pre and post uterine embolization, urethral diverticulum, and uterine anomalies. 
  • Fellows are expected to actively participate in protocolling studies, assisting technologists at the magnet, and interpreting exams on a daily basis. Separate time in musculoskeletal, neuro, and cardiothoracic imaging offer additional MR training in those areas.

CT

  • Multiple multislice scanners in various locations for both inpatient and outpatient care
  • Advanced imaging with continuous updates to CT protocols
  • Dual energy CT, PET/CT, and low dose CT algorithms
  • Cover Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers along with multiple EDs, outpatient, and inpatient environments for a wide variety of pathology
  • Fellows interact closely with faculty, residents and technologist.
  • Emphasis is placed on quality in technical performance and interpretation.

Ultrasound

  • Interpretation of obstetrical, gynecological, carotid, small parts, musculoskeletal, Doppler (including color flow) and abdominal ultrasound
  • Biopsy and drainage procedures
  • Intraoperative exams, including pancreas, spine, and OB/GYN

Electives

  • Electives have included: Chest, Cardiac Imaging, Neuro, PET/CT, General Nuclear Medicine, Research, 3D Lab/Advanced post-processing, high risk OB ultrasound, breast imaging, and musculoskeletal imaging.

Research

  • Participation in research is encouraged but not required
  • Multiple projects and attendings are usually available to assist or start
