Teaching Opportunities
Residents have numerous teaching opportunities. Peer-to-peer learning is an integral part of the educational process. Senior residents are intimately involved in educating junior residents. This fosters teamwork and camaraderie.
Residents are also involved in teaching the medical students and externs. There are always three to five externs visiting with us each month.
We also serve as a site for a core rotation for the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and Western University of Health Sciences
Additionally, residents from our organization's other programs rotate through our service, including family practice, emergency medicine, and general surgery.
WetLab
The Program has a state-of-the-art wet lab to provide a facility where residents can enhance their knowledge regarding surgical anatomy and improve their surgical skills. The lab features:
- 4 work stations
