Spacious, private rooms

Our warm, welcoming labor and delivery unit allows moms to recover and bond with their babies in comfort and style. The delivery and postpartum rooms come with:

  • Complete privacy.
  • Beautiful décor and all new furnishings.
  • Jetted showers and hydrotherapy tubs in delivery rooms.
  • Rain shower heads in postpartum rooms.
  • A celebratory meal for you and your support person.
  • A free sleep sack for your baby.
  • A special delivery gift for you and your new arrival.

We also offer beautiful private rooms for gynecology patients and pregnant women who require hospitalization for prolonged periods of time prior to delivering and postpartum.

Giving new moms a helping hand

After your baby is born, our specially trained nurses will show you how to give your baby a bath, assist you with breastfeeding, and even help you put in your baby’s car seat. We will also place a crib by your bedside so you can “room in” with your child.

If you need a break, our expert nurses will take care of your newborn. We have a fully equipped, spacious nursery that provides a comfortable environment for your baby and an opportunity for physicians to monitor vitals.

Caring for our tiniest patients, the Level III NICU

Take comfort knowing that, should your baby need it, you have access to the region’s most highly experienced team of neonatal intensive care physicians and nurses in our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

With 19 private pods for premature and sick infants, our NICU is the first choice among referring physicians. Our neonatologists and certified neonatal nurses are the most experienced in the region, and our dedication to neonatal care doesn’t stop there.

AHN Saint Vincent is proud to be the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network
Hospital (CMN), providing over $4 million dollars to aid AHN Saint Vincent’s
tiniest patients. From investing in the latest neonatal technology to providing
car seats for new babies, CMN is helping to create firsts for the next generation.

Pregnancy, labor and delivery support

Becoming a mom comes with its challenges. AHN Saint Vincent offers many services to help you along your journey to parenthood.

High-risk pregnancy

If you’re experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, know that you have our full support. Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists will work with you to understand your risk factors — like a chronic health condition or a fetal complication — develop a treatment plan, provide emotional support, and do our best to ensure the healthiest delivery possible. Our specialist can also help you navigate issues related to getting pregnant and ensuring a healthy delivery.

We also offer genetic counseling, which is important before and during pregnancy to check for inherited conditions.

These services are available in person and through telemedicine. Call (814) 87-WOMEN (814) 879-6636 to schedule an appointment with a Maternal Fetal Medicine or genetic specialist.

Nurse midwives

We’re proud to offer an experienced team of certified nurse midwives who provide comprehensive care throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.

A nurse midwife can provide:

  • A personal, more holistic style of care with a lower rate of interventions, such as labor-inducing medications and cesarean sections.
  • Full service care, 24/7.
  • Referrals to Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Section (VBAC) OB-GYN physicians, if needed.

To learn more about our nurse midwives, call (814) 454-8185.

Connections to Johns Hopkins Medicine

In the rare chance your baby needs highly specialized care, AHN works alongside the world-renowned specialists at Johns Hopkins Medicine. The team will coordinate with your OB-GYN and treat rare and complex conditions through breakthrough fetal procedures

Growing Hope program

Whether you’re pregnant or a new mom who is struggling with a substance use disorder, or you know a woman who is, AHN Saint Vincent’s Growing Hope Program provides a safe place to get care and support.

The program is designed to complement services already provided in the community and includes educational sessions every two weeks during pregnancy. Growing Hope offers women:

  • Education to achieve the healthiest pregnancy possible.
  • Referrals to community resources for counseling and medication management during the pregnancy.
  • Emotional support from health care professionals and peers.
  • Care coordination to ensure moms have appropriate housing, nutrition, and health care.

After leaving the hospital, appointments are arranged with appropriate community resources so that mom and baby can transition to a healthy, safe lifestyle.
