Faculty

The Saint Vincent faculty members bring many years of experience and expertise to the residency program, and each of them has diverse special interests essential to a comprehensive family practice education.

In addition to being professional educators, faculty members maintain clinical practices, adding practical experience to their well-rounded academic background. All of our faculty are board certified and committed to preparing you for a successful practice.

Timothy D. Pelkowski, MD, MS, FAAFP
Program Director

Timothy D. Pelkowski, MD is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, and is the Program Director for the Saint Vincent Family Medicine Residency Program. He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his Family Medicine residency in 2000 with the Saint Vincent Family Medicine Residency Program. He has completed fellowships in both Sports Medicine and Faculty Development. Dr. Pelkowski functions as the Director of Scholarship within the residency. He has served as the 139th President of the Erie County Medical Society, Chair of the Pennsylvania Medical Political Action Committee and as the President of the Saint Vincent Hospital Medical Staff in the past. He is the current District 8 Trustee to the Pennsylvania Medical Society Board. He is married to his wife Cassie, also a Family Medicine physician, and they have three children. His personal interest includes swimming.

Edward Ellis, DO
Associate Program Director

Edward Ellis, DO is a native of the Laurel Highlands in southwestern PA. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in biology. He went on to serve in the United States Navy prior to attending medical school. Dr. Ellis graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. He then completed a family medicine residency at UPMC St. Margaret. Dr. Ellis worked as a primary care physician for four years before taking a faculty position at the Saint Vincent Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Ellis enjoys exercise, music, and spending time with his family. 

Caitlin S. Clark, DO
Director of Medical Education, AHN Northern Region and Assistant DIO, AHN Saint Vincent Hospital

Caitlin S. Clark, DO, is a native of Annapolis, Md. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology from Villanova University. She attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed an internship at Geisinger Medical Center and graduated from the Saint Vincent Family Practice Residency Program. She has an interest in women’s health care, including prenatal care. Her personal interests include running and spending time with her family.

Kathleen A Costanzo, DO, CAQSM
Osteopathic Recognition & Sports Medicine Track Director

Doctor Costanzo practiced physical therapy for eleven years before deciding to
pursue a career in medicine. Her path led her to Osteopathy and she matriculated from LECOM in 2006.  She completed her Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. After completing training, she devoted the next six years to practice as a Primary Care Sports physician for Wellspan Orthopedics in York, Pennsylvania.  There she honed her orthopedic skills and provided medical coverage for a wide  range of amateur and professional sports teams. She is a team physician for USA Weightlifting and has traveled throughout the World to cover Team USA for Junior World Championships in addition to acting as medical director for several National Weightlifting events. She returned to Erie in 2016 to assume a role as faculty for Saint Vincent Family Medicine Residency. She serves as the key faculty member for SVFM Osteopathic Recognition and education as well as Sports Medicine Track within the family medicine residency. Her free time is spent traveling enjoying a variety of cultural experiences and international cuisines. She enjoys hiking and kayaking.

Laura McIntosh, MD, CAQSM
Sports Medicine Fellowship Director

Laura McIntosh, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh
School of Medicine, completed her family practice residency at UPMC Shadyside 
Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., and completed her sports medicine fellowship at Saint Vincent. She also specializes in diagnosing and managing concussions. Dr. McIntosh is the team physician for Gannon University. She provides medical coverage for several local athletic events including the Highmark Quad Games, Edinboro Triathlon, Presque Isle Triathlon, and the Barber Center Beast on the Bay.

Ali Meyer, LCSW
Behavioral Science Program Director

Ali Meyer, LCSW, PMH-C is a native of Erie, PA. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, as well as her Master of Social Work degree, from the University of Pittsburgh. Ali completed her Mental Health Concentration internship training at various pediatric sites within UPMC Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA. She has worked in a variety of behavioral health settings including outpatient pediatrics, general outpatient, Medicaid managed care, and a youth residential treatment facility. She was a primary clinician at Allegheny Health Network's Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents prior to relocating back to Erie. Her special interests include perinatal mental health and childhood trauma. She is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is Perinatal Mental Health Certified. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. 

Susheel Muralidharan, MD
Director of Pediatric Education

Dr. Susheel Muralidharan is an expert neonatologist and board certified pediatrician who provides excellent care at Saint Vincent Hospital and the Saint Vincent Family medicine clinic. Dr. Muralidharan graduated from Thanjavur Medical College in India. After which, he completed a pediatric residency at Madras Medical College in India and in Mobile, Alabama at the University of South Alabama. He continued his training with a three-year fellowship in neonatology at the University of Buffalo, Buffalo, NY. Dr. Susheel Muralidharan has multiple
neonatal and pediatric research publications in nationally recognized journals and has presented at conferences across the United States, Canada, and India.
At Saint Vincent hospital, he works on the general pediatrics floor and in the
level 3 NICU where he cares for the smallest and sickest newborns. He also enjoys an active role in teaching residents and medical students in his outpatient practice where he provides full scope newborn and pediatric care.

Leah Campbell, DO
Faculty

Leah Campbell, DO, earned her medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013.  She completed her residency at the Saint Vincent Family Medicine Program where she served as co-chief resident her final year.  Originally from Warren, PA, Dr. Campbell provides care for patients at Elk Valley Medical Center where she enjoys teaching residents and providing care to patients from rural areas.  In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Joshua Czerwinski, DO
Faculty

Dr. Czerwinski earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic
Medicine (LECOM) and completed his family practice residency and internship at
Saint Vincent Health Center. He is currently faculty at Elk Valley Medical Center.

Dr. Czerwinski enjoys competitive running and is an avid Cleveland sports fan. He is also an Eagle Scout, which explains his love for a variety of outdoor activities including hunting, camping and fishing.

Maggie R Biebel, DO
Faculty

Maggie  R Biebel, DO is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, active preceptor, and home
visit coordinator for the Saint Vincent Family Medicine program. Dr. Biebel graduated from Edinboro University and earned her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Saint Vincent Family medicine and now practices Rural and Obesity medicine in Edinboro,
Pennsylvania. She serves as a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. In her free time, Dr. Biebel enjoys Kayaking, riding her Peloton bike, DIY projects, crafts, and spending quality
time with her two children.

Faculty

Dr. Levy is a member of the Family Practice Residency faculty at Saint Vincent Hospital  in Erie Pennsylvania. He has spent much of his career teaching residents and medical students the art and science of Internal Medicine. He is a graduate of New York Medical College and did a residency in Internal Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in NY. Dr. Levy is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Palliative Care. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Levy is published in the field of medical ethics and has authored a chapter in  Saunders Manual of Medical Practice on advance directives. In addition, he is known nationally as an experienced lecturer on topics such as medical futility,
withdrawal/withholding artificial system support, and communicating bad news to patients and families.

Dr. Levy enjoys skiing, reading, and playing the piano. He lives with his bride of 29 years, Kimberlee, in Erie, PA and is the proud parent of a daughter who is studying to be a scientific illustrator.

Faculty

Brian Pickering, D.O., is a native of Chebanse, Illinois, a small farming community in Northeastern Illinois. Dr. Pickering graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelors degree in biology prior to graduating from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2019. He subsequently completed his residency training at Saint Vincent Family Medicine Residency program, serving as co-chief during his final year. Dr. Pickering is particularly interested in medical student education, inpatient medicine, and osteopathic manipulative medicine. He enjoys spending the majority of his time with his wife and children.

Brian Sohl, M.D.
Faculty

Brian S. Sohl, M.D. is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania and attended both Girard and Fort LeBoeuf school districts. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Gannon University with a degree in Biology and a minor in Theology. He then earned his medical degree from The Penn State Hershey College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. He completed his residency training at Overlook Family Medicine in Summit, NJ. His special interests within family medicine include outpatient office procedures, pediatrics, patient and resident education, men's health and preventative medicine.

Outside of the family medicine office, Dr. Sohl is an automotive enthusiast, follows the NFL closely, enjoys weight training, cooking, traveling and spending time with his family. 

Phillip St. Julien, DO, CAQSM
Faculty

Dr. St. Julien earned his medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). He completed his residency in Family Medicine and his fellowship in Sports Medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. St. Julien serves as the team physician at Edinboro University and Northwestern High School.

Dr. St. Julien is originally from Watkins Glen, New York but currently resides in Erie with his wife and four children. He enjoys spending time with his family, home improvement projects and golfing in his free time.

Lisa Treusch, MD
Faculty

Lisa Treusch, MD, graduated cum laude from Grove City College. She earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in 1992 and served as chief resident while completing her family medicine residency at Saint Vincent Health Center. Dr. Treusch has been in practice at Elk Valley Medical Center since 1995. She is active in her church as a Bible study leader and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children doing outdoor activities such as backpacking, biking and cross country skiing.
