Our residents are a diverse group, hailing from Pittsburgh or around the globe. Although each has a unique background and story to tell, what unites them is their intense commitment to learn while providing the best patient care possible.

Chief Residents

AHN Internal Medicine Residency Chief Residents 2023-2024

Deeksha Ramanujam, MD

Dr. Ramanujam is a Pittsburgh native, and earned her bachelor’s and medical degrees from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Allegheny Health Network in June 2023. After her chief year, she plans to pursue a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, trying out new recipes, and taking road trips. 

Matthew Deicke, DO

Dr. Deicke grew up in the Pittsburgh area and later would attend Allegheny College where he received his bachelor’s degree in biology. He then went on to study medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following medical school, he was very excited to return to Pittsburgh where he completed his Internal Medicine residency training at the Allegheny Health Network in June of 2023. Following his chief year, he plans to pursue a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine. Outside of work he enjoys completing home improvement projects as well as spending time with his wife, friends, family and his two dogs, Deacon and Shadow.

Max Jacobs, DO

Dr. Jacobs comes from Colorado and attended the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing his Internal Medicine residency at Allegheny Health Network in June 2023. During residency he was a proud participant in the Inclusion Health Track.  After chief year, he will pursue fellowship training in Infectious Disease and Critical Care to explore his academic interests in emerging infectious diseases, sepsis, and host-pathogen interactions. Outside of work he enjoys staying active in the great outdoors especially running, snowboarding, and scuba diving. He has a big family and enjoys traveling to see them as often as he can. 

Alex Cardy, DO

Dr. Cardy is a native of northwestern Pennsylvania. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and her medical degree from AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Allegheny Health Network in 2023. After her chief year, she plans to pursue primary care with a focus on street medicine.
Her academic interests include health care disparities and social determinants of health.  Outside of work she enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking outdoors, and live music.
