About AHN

Allegheny Health Network is a Pittsburgh-based healthcare system. For more information about Allegheny Health Network see www.ahn.org. The Medical Physics Residency Program is based at the academic medical center, Allegheny General Hospital (AGH). The Division of Radiation Oncology currently treats over 3000 patients annually on 19 state-of-the-art treatment units (mostly Elekta VersaHD) and 5 Elekta HDR Flexitrons across 15 facilities. Each facility houses a 4-D CT scanner. Construction of a brand new academic cancer center at AGH is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2020 and will add an Elekta MR Unity accelerator, a MR simulator, an Elekta VersaHD and possibly a research MR scanner to the existing equipment which includes a GammaKnife, a GammaPod, an Elekta VersaHD, and an Elekta HDR Flexitron. The Department of Radiation Oncology currently employs 22 faculty and professional staff involved in clinical medical physics activities. We plan to add two more physicists to our staff this year.
