Officials from Allegheny Health Network and Saint Vincent Hospital today joined community leaders in Erie to officially break ground on the new Allegheny Health Network Health + Wellness Pavilion East Side, located at 4950 Buffalo Road in Harborcreek Township.
The AHN Health + Wellness Pavilion East Side will bring together for area residents comprehensive Saint Vincent services in one convenient location, including primary care, specialty care for cardiology, orthopaedics, dermatology and podiatry, as well as an urgent care center, rehabilitation, occupational medicine and laboratory services.
Advanced diagnostic imaging services will also be offered at the new facility, including 3D digital tomosynthesis mammography, state-of the-art CT technology, general and orthopaedic X-rays, DEXA scanning for bone density testing, and general, cardiac and vascular ultrasound.
Construction on the 30,000 square-foot Pavilion began last week, with an expected completion in early 2019.
“Saint Vincent opened its AHN Health + Wellness Pavilion West Side in Erie a few years ago with the goal of offering residents of the west corridor access to comprehensive outpatient services close to home, and that facility has well exceeded our expectations in the number of patients we are caring for,” said Chris Clark, DO, MHA, President of Saint Vincent Hospital. “The Pavilion we are breaking ground on today brings that same level of high quality services to those who live in our east side communities and we look forward to the outstanding experience that it will offer.”
The Health + Wellness Pavilion East Side will be AHN’s fifth such facility. In addition to the West Side Pavilion in Erie, others are located in the Wexford, Bethel Park and Peters Township communities close to Pittsburgh.
“These facilities are another great example of our organization’s dedication to providing patients with the right care, at the right place and at the right time,” said AHN President and CEO Cynthia Hundorfean. “We opened our first Health + Wellness Pavilion in Wexford in 2014, and our goal was to create a one-stop shop that would raise the bar on patient comfort, care coordination, clinical quality and service excellence. Our patients responded positively, which is why we continue to follow this template across in strategic locations across our footprint.”
The Pavilion model is also designed to provide an ideal, collaborative environment for physicians and other caregivers.
“From a physician perspective, having so many resources in one space will not only be convenient for patients and their families, but immensely valuable to the clinicians who care for them,” said Saint Vincent family physician Christopher Serafini, DO. “Having such close access to a variety of specialists and services in one central location - from diagnostic care to specialty practices and rehabilitation care - better enables us to achieve the best possible experience and outcomes for our patients.”
The Health + Wellness Pavilion East Side, is being developed in conjunction with Saint Vincent by The Westminster Group Companies and West Ridge Medical Partners, LLC.
The facility is being built adjacent to the Saint Vincent Urgent Care Center East, which opened in 1998 and annually treats more than 11,800 patients annually, as well as Saint Vincent East Harbor Primary Care, which treats more than 5,100 patients each year.
