Allegheny Health Network To Open Express Care Program in New Kensington July 1

Tuesday, June 11, 2019

NEW KENSINGTON, PA – Allegheny Health Network (AHN) announced today that it will open a new Express Care service in New Kensington on July 1, providing area residents with a high quality, close-to-home option for their health care needs.

As part of AHN’s United Physicians practice at 305 7th Street in New Kensington, the new Express Care program will be led by Joseph Martinez, MD, and staffed by three adult primary care physicians and other clinicians. The newly renovated clinic will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and will offer walk-in care for a variety of low acuity ailments, including allergies and asthma, coughs and colds, minor burns, lacerations, sprains and other injuries.  The clinic accepts most insurances.

The Express Care program replaces Allegheny Valley Hospital’s Urgent Care Center at the former Citizens General Hospital. Patients can still access laboratory (blood draw), mammogram, ultrasound, bone density, and x-ray services at the Citizens location.

The Express Care model of care offers several advantages to patients, including expanded hours, lower out-of-pocket costs and the opportunity for patients to develop a relationship with an on-site primary care provider. The Express Care model is in place at four additional AHN locations and receives very high patient satisfaction ratings.

“At United Physicians we pride ourselves on the high-quality, personalized care we deliver to patients, and we look forward to now serving even more residents of our community through this wonderful new Express Care program,” Dr. Martinez said.

Dr. Martinez also stressed that those with more serious health issues or emergencies should call 911 or seek care at AVH’s nearby emergency department rather than the Express Care program.
