Pink Out: Saint Vincent to Provide Walk-in Mammography Services in Celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

ERIE, PA (September 19 2019) Early detection is the key to beating breast cancer.  That’s why Saint Vincent, along with all the hospitals of the Allegheny Health Network, will host its annual AHN Pink Out event on Saturday, October 5, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. offering walk-in screening mammography to area women. The AHN Pink Out will take place at the Saint Vincent Breast Imaging Center, 2315 Myrtle Street Suite #295 in the Hardner Building, Erie.  Parking will be free.

Due to construction, the Breast Center is only accessible from the parking ramp on the northwest corner of West 24th and Myrtle streets. There will be signs and staff to guide participants.

The event, held in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, will allow women 40 and older to walk in, without an appointment, and have their regular mammography screening completed at Saint Vincent. The event also offers women the opportunity to get their mammogram on a weekend day.

Light refreshments will be served and participants will receive giveaways.

In order to have a mammogram, it must have been 12 months since the patient’s last mammography screening.  Patients will be responsible for copays and other out-of-pocket expenses as determined by their health insurance plan.

Those who would prefer the convenience of an appointment that day can call Care Connect at 814-866-4850.

The Saint Vincent Women’s Center offers breast tomosynthesis, also known as 3-D mammography, which takes multiple images in “slices” that allow doctors to see internal breast tissue in sharp detail, minimizing false-positive and false-negative readings. Saint Vincent also provides Breast MRI as a supplemental tool for breast imaging.  Saint Vincent is the only hospital in Erie to have ABUS technology, which is Breast Ultrasound designed especially to help identify irregularities in women with dense breasts.

Those who have questions can call the Saint Vincent Women’s Center at 814-452-5879.
