AHN Offers Patients Online Appointment Booking Powered By Zocdoc

Friday, October 11, 2019

Zocdoc site and mobile app allows real-time, 24-7 digital appointment booking

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is the first health system in the Pittsburgh region to offer patients real-time, online appointment booking powered by Zocdoc, a national digital health marketplace used by millions of patients and leading health systems throughout the United States.

Any patient, even those new to AHN, can use Zocdoc to view real-time availability and digitally schedule appointments with participating AHN providers, quickly and seamlessly, at any time of the day. Existing AHN patients can also request appointments online through My Chart, by calling 412-DOCTORS, or by visiting https://www.ahn.org/connect-to-care.

“At AHN, we are committed to offering patients the right care, in the right place, at the right time. We are thrilled to offer Zocdoc’s service to help members of the community find the care they need quickly,” said Kenyokee Crowell, senior vice president, clinical access, AHN. “We believe patients will find Zocdoc an easy-to-use and convenient technology that will quickly connect them to the best available health care providers.”

The typical patient booking via Zocdoc sees a provider within 72 hours versus the national average wait time of 21 days. Zocdoc makes this possible by finding appointments in providers' calendars caused by last-minute cancellations and reschedules – and making these appointments available to patients seeking care.

Desktop users can visit Zocdoc.com, and mobile users can download the free Zocdoc iPhone or Android app. There, users can search for providers by insurance, read professional profiles and verified patient reviews, see providers' real-time availability, and make appointments instantly online. AHN is currently offering appointments with providers in primary care, cardiology, OBGYN and orthopedics, with more specialties expected to be added in the coming months. Zocdoc is free for patients.

Nationwide, tens of thousands of independent practices and more than 60 leading hospitals and health systems participate in Zocdoc’s marketplace to connect with and serve patients seeking care.
