Saint Vincent Hospital, part of the Allegheny Health Network, will provide the community with an advance look at its soon-to-open new Emergency Department on Saturday, October 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. just north of the hospital’s main entrance at 232 West 25th Street.  The celebration will include free food, health screenings and a host of fun activities for kids, as well as tours of the new facility. It is free and open to the public.

Myrtle Street will be closed off to traffic between 24th and 23rd streets to accommodate all the event’s activities, which include:

  • Fun games with prizes, including a giant Jenga and giant Connect Four game, as well as Corn Hole, Plinko and Spinning Wheel.
  • Face Painting
  • Glitter Artist
  • A Caricaturist
  • A Fun Photo Booth
  • Music with a live DJ
  • Free blood pressure and bone density screenings in the hospital’s Mobile Medical Unit

Those who attend the event can sign up to win two tickets to a Pittsburgh Steelers game on December 15, valued at $550.

Free treats will be served throughout the day, including cotton candy, popcorn and cookies.  Hamburgers and hot dogs with all of the fixings will be served from noon-2 pm.

Parking in the ramp, located on the corner of 24th and Myrtle, will be free during the event.

“This celebration and open house is AHN Saint Vincent’s way of thanking the community for its  patience during our construction process over the past two years and for the support of everyone who has played a role in the development of this beautiful new facility,” said Saint Vincent president, Chris Clark, DO, MHA. “In addition to all the fun activities, we are also really excited to let folks go inside and see firsthand how this facility was truly designed to create the most efficient and streamlined experience for them should they ever need emergency care.”

The new 104,000-square-foot, $51.5 million facility on the Saint Vincent campus is part of a more than $140 million investment being made by Highmark Health and Allegheny Health Network in Saint Vincent and the Erie region.  The new emergency department and adjacent operating room suite extends between the Hardner Building at 2315 Myrtle Street to the main hospital.

A formal ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Saint Vincent Emergency Department and adjacent Operating Room Suite is set for October 18 at 10 a.m. The facility will open for patients the following week.
