Canonsburg Hospital Welcomes the Holidays with Traditions Old and New

Monday, November 27, 2017

CANONSBURG, Pa. — Canonsburg Hospital, a part of Allegheny Health Network (AHN), is ringing in the holiday season with the launch of a new tradition plus the return of a longtime popular annual event.

The hospital will host its first-ever Light-Up Night celebration this Thursday, Nov. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. The highlight of the evening will be the arrival of Santa Claus, who will give Rudolph and the other reindeer the night off and instead touch down at the hospital in an AHN LifeFlight helicopter around 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Canonsburg’s Holiday Basket Raffle is now underway through December 11. This marks the 12th year of the event, which has raised more than $145,000 to date. Proceeds from this year’s raffle will benefit renovations to the hospital’s Emergency Department waiting room.

“Both of these events serve as wonderful opportunities to bring together the local communities Canonsburg Hospital serves,” said Louise Urban, President and CEO, Canonsburg Hospital. “These are the people that allow Canonsburg Hospital to fulfill our mission to improve the health of the region.”

Once Santa arrives at the hospital Thursday, he will lead the lighting of a large Christmas tree that will be located in the front of the hospital throughout the holiday season. Light-Up Night also will include the children’s choir from St. Patrick Church singing Christmas carols, as well as cookies, hot chocolate, and the chance to meet Santa.
For this year’s Holiday Basket Raffle, the hospital expects there to be as many as 60 baskets of goodies for people to bid on, including baskets featuring a 55-inch Samsung TV, All-Clad cookware, Lottery trees, a handmade chess set, and more. The holiday baskets will be displayed in the main lobby of the hospital through Monday, December 11. Tickets can be purchased Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.; Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The winning tickets will be drawn December 11 at 1:00 p.m. (winners do not need to be present).
