Saint Vincent Brings Community Leaders Together for Update on Expansion and Transformation Progress, Cancer Center Opening In 2019
Thursday, November 8, 2018
Officials from Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and Saint Vincent Hospital will bring community leaders and elected officials together this evening for a state-of-the-union address on Saint Vincent’s progress in 2018 and the significant investments the organization is making to strengthen and transform the delivery of health care in the Northwestern PA region, including its plans to open a new comprehensive cancer center on its campus in 2019. The meeting will take place at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center, 7794 Peach Street at XX PM.
Addressing the group tonight will be Saint Vincent President Chris Clark, DO, David Parda, MD, Chair of the Allegheny Health Network Cancer Institute, and Andrew Figura, MD, a radiation oncologist at The Regional Cancer Center, who will join the Saint Vincent Cancer Institute in 2019.
Drs. Parda and Figure will provide details of the new AHN Cancer Center currently under construction across the street from the hospital, which will integrate AHN’s Erie-based cancer services in one convenient location for patients. They will also discuss the Network’s close affiliation with the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and how the organizations together provide patients with access to more than 600 cancer clinical trials - more than any other cancer center in western Pennsylvania.
Dr. Clark will also update community leaders on current expansion and renovation projects underway at Saint Vincent, including:
The Hospital’s new 104,000 square foot Emergency Department and Operating Room Suite, which is scheduled to open in late 2019
The 30,000 square foot AHN Health + Wellness Pavilion, East Side, located at 4950 Buffalo Road in Harborcreek Township, which will bring care to patients in the east corridor of Erie County
The new Saint Vincent Women’s Center, AHN Women’s Institute, located in the Hardner Building at 2315 Myrtle, which will integrate the hospital’s women’s services in one space
The AHN Women and Infants Center at Saint Vincent, which will transform the fifth floor of the hospital, bringing beautifully renovated rooms and advanced technologies to women and their babies in the labor and delivery, postpartum, gynecologic, breast, infant and neonatal intensive care areas
Dr. Clark will also provide an overview of other new technologies and medical procedures available at Saint Vincent, such as the area’s most advanced da Vinci robotic surgical system, MAKO robotic arm-assisted surgery for hip and knee replacement, and – coming in 2019 – MRI 3T imaging and ABUS breast diagnostic technology for women with dense breasts.
A review of clinician-led care delivery transformation initiatives underway at Saint Vincent, Allegheny Health Network’s clinically integrated network, and strategic partnerships will also be discussed.
