Saint Vincent Honors Drs. Chorazy, Khera for Doctor's Day

Tuesday, March 26, 2019

AHN Saint Vincent Hospital, part of the Allegheny Heath Network, will celebrate National Doctors Day on March 29, with a number of events for all physicians throughout the day.

One of the highlights of the day will be the ceremony honoring 2019’s two outstanding Saint Vincent physicians. The 2019 honorees are Saint Vincent urologist Zdzislaw Chorazy, MD, and gastroenterologist Dinesh Khera, MD.

Dr. Chorazy earned his medical degree with Krakow Medical Academy in Poland. He began his career with Saint Vincent as a urology resident in 1981, and served as Chief Resident for Urology from 1983 to 1984.   He served as Section Leader for Urology from 2001 to 2007, as Department of Surgery Chair from 2003 to 2006, as Division Chief of Surgical Specialties from 2004 to 2006, as Treasurer of medical staff in 2008, and as President of the medical staff from 2011 to 2012.

Dr. Khera earned his medical degree at the Medical College in New Delhi, India.  He was fellowship trained in gastroenterology at Providence Hospital in Southfield Michigan. Dr. Khera served as Division Chief of Gastroenterology at Saint Vincent in the 1980s and again from  2002  to 2006. He was the recipient of the 1987 Teaching Award for the Saint Vincent Family Medicine Residency program and also earned the WJET-TV Golden Apple award for his work teaching in that program in 1996.  He served as president of the Erie County Medical Society in 1989 and was founder of the Gut Club of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Following a breakfast to honor all Saint Vincent physicians, The Doctor’s Day award ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. in the One West Conference Room at Saint Vincent. Drs. Chorazy and Khera will be honored by Saint Vincent with a gift of $500 to their chosen charities. In addition, the Erie County Medical Society will contribute $75 to those donations for each honoree.  Dr. Chorazy has chosen the Sisters of St. Joseph Soup Kitchen and Dr. Khera has chosen the Second Harvest Food Bank.

“Doctor’s Day is a great opportunity for Saint Vincent to thank all of our physicians for everything they do, day in and day out. And  we are so proud to be able to  recognize and honor, in particular, the excellent level of patient care that Drs. Chorazy and Khera have provided for many years at Saint Vincent,” said Chris Clark, DO, MHA, President of Saint Vincent Hospital. “These two physicians are valued and held in the highest esteem by their fellow physicians, by our nurses, by the staff members, and most importantly, by their patients.”
