Appointments are required. To make an appointment, patients should call 412.515.2723. When scheduling, patients will receive instructions to prepare for their screening.
Colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US, and is expected to cause more than 50,000 deaths this year. Katie Farah, MD, Director of the McCandless Endoscopy Center and Quality Officer of Gastroenterology at AHN, says that many more lives could be saved with testing.
“Many colorectal cancers can be prevented through regular screenings. Quite often, screenings find precancerous polyps that are removed before they become cancerous. Also, when colorectal cancer is found early, it is highly treatable. The benefits of early screening, detection, and treatment can be lifesaving," said Dr. Farah.
