How do I schedule a same-day appointment?

- We will ask you for basic information, such as address, phone number, and insurance carrier.
- Next, we will ask you a series of questions about your symptoms to help find the most appropriate healthcare provider to treat you. In most cases, we’ll be able to schedule the appointment with this information.
- If you have a complex or chronic medical condition, your call may need to be triaged by a nurse. This ensures that your healthcare provider receives information necessary to give you the best care.
- Same-day appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
Which specialties can I schedule for a same-day appointment?
Over 20 specialties Allegheny Health Network offers are available for same-day appointments, including heart care, cancer care, and women’s health, to name a few. Possible exceptions include patients that need to be seen by behavioral health and dermatology, as appointments with these specialties can be limited. In some cases, your call may need to be triaged by a nurse to ensure that your care need is directed appropriately.
Can I schedule a same-day appointment with a Primary Care Physician (PCP)?

What if I have an urgent illness or injury and need to be seen as soon as possible?

Can I schedule a same-day appointment for a procedure, routine physical, or with a specific doctor?
When you call 412.DOCTORS (412.362.8677) before 11 a.m., we will offer you a same-day appointment with a doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. If you are requesting an appointment for a routine physical or check-up or with a specific doctor, including your primary care physician, we may not be able to schedule you for a same-day appointment. Walk-ins are always welcome for x-rays and lab work; no appointment is necessary. We are not accepting same-day appointments for procedures, including MRIs, CTs, mammograms, and surgeries, at this time.
What if I don’t want a same-day appointment?
While we offer same-day appointments as a convenience to our patients, you always have the option to schedule your appointment on a different day, if you prefer.
Do I need a referral from my primary care physician to schedule a same-day appointment for specialty care?
Please review your benefits or call your insurance carrier’s member services team for any specific questions, including whether or not a referral is needed for a specialty care appointment.
