Behavioral Health Resources for Sports

When an athlete is injured, a team of experts is ready to help get them back on the field. But athletes can be prone to behavioral health and stress issues, too. Our team is experienced at treating the whole athlete — mind and body.

Allegheny Health Network Sports Medicine works with The Chill Project by AHN for student athletes by providing virtual support services for athletes and families. We help participants optimize athletic performance and physical health through achieving mental wellness.

Sports behavioral health at AHN: Why choose us?

With the help of The Chill Project, we teach student athletes skillsets that enhance their performance and help them deal with unexpected barriers. We help athletes develop mindfulness and relaxation techniques, as well as evidence-based cognitive skills. These skills assist athletes in meeting their full potential physically and mentally.

Sports behavioral health therapy and treatments at AHN

Our sports behavioral health counselors and consultants can work one-on-one with student athletes, or with a small group or team. Sessions and treatments can focus on any number of areas, based on your needs. Focus areas include:

  • Performance anxiety
  • Balancing responsibilities
  • Social pressure
  • Impact of season- or career-ending injuries
  • Athletic transitions
  • Additional areas as needed
