Video Visits with Your Doctor

See your primary care physician (PCP) from the comfort of your home. Use MyChart to schedule a video visit with your PCP or an AHN specialist.

Talk to your doctor from your couch

As we deal with COVID-19, video visits provide a great way to stay connected with your PCP and get your regular care. Plus, most insurance plans offer video visits as a covered benefit. Double-check with your insurance provider to review their telehealth policy.

You can meet online with your regular doctor to discuss your symptoms and treatment plan. You’ll use MyChart to schedule an appointment, and then you’ll log back in when it’s time for your visit.

With a few clicks or taps, you’ll connect with your PCP or AHN specialist to review your symptoms and health history. They’ll make a diagnosis, provide a treatment plan, and even order a prescription, if necessary. It’s like a typical face-to-face appointment — just through a screen.

Here are some common reasons to schedule a video visit:

  • Coronavirus symptoms
  • Follow-ups for ongoing treatment
  • Flu or cold symptoms
  • Aches and pains
  • Emotional or mental health concerns
  • Urinary symptoms

Log in to your MyChart account to get started. Don’t have an account? No problem. Sign up for MyChart and schedule your first video visit.

Scheduling a video visit with your doctor

You’ll need to schedule an appointment with your doctor, just like you would an in-office visit. You can use your online MyChart account or your MyChart app on your mobile device. When it’s time for your appointment, you’ll log back in for your visit.

  • To schedule on the app: Click the Appointments icon, Schedule an appointment, and then Schedule with a provider you’ve seen before. Again, using the app is the easiest way to complete a visit and will give you the best connection.
  • To schedule on the web: Click Menu, then Request a Video Visit, then click on Virtual care with your own AHN provider.

Please note: Your doctor’s name will only appear if you had a visit within the last two years. If you have trouble scheduling, call your doctor’s office for help setting up the online visit.

Preparing for your Video Visit on MyChart?

You can use the MyChart app on your PC, tablet, or smartphone. It’s up to you. If your personal computer is a Mac, it’s currently recommended to use a mobile app instead. You must be present in Pennsylvania during your video visit.

Check your hardware in advance

For the best connection, use the MyChart app on your phone or tablet. It’s compatible with Apple and Android devices. We also recommend connecting over Wi-Fi and closing all other apps. Don’t forget to double-check that your camera and microphone are working.

Switching to a non-video visit appointment

If you have internet limitations, or you’re uncomfortable with video, call your provider’s office and select the option to speak with someone in the office to check whether a telephone visit is an option.

Confirm your appointment

You can click on your appointment in MyChart and confirm in advance. This lets the clinic staff know they can skip your reminder call.

eCheck-in

Log in to MyChart. Take five minutes to confirm payment, medications, allergies, and health history. You can do this as early as seven days before your visit. Tap the Appointments icon or Visits tab.

When it’s time for your visit

Like any doctor visit, it’s best to show up 15 minutes before your appointment time — but not earlier. You’ll also want to go to a quiet location to make it easier to hear during your visit.
