Grief and Bereavement Support

At AHN Healthcare@Home, we provide a wide range of grief and bereavement support services designed to help individuals and families cope with the loss of a loved one. Our services are tailored to meet the emotional and psychological needs of those in grief, offering a compassionate and supportive environment for up to 13 months after a loved one's passing.

Grief mailings and education

Our grief mailings, sent directly to families, provide helpful information on navigating the emotional challenges that come with loss. These mailings are complemented by additional educational resources that guide individuals through the grieving process, helping them understand what to expect and how to manage their emotions.

Bereavement phone call and visits

Our experienced bereavement coordinators and chaplains regularly reach out through phone calls and home visits, offering a compassionate ear for those experiencing grief. These periodic interactions ensure that families have a support system during their grieving process and provide them with someone to talk to when they need it most.

Grief support groups

AHN Healthcare@Home offers specialized grief support groups for adults throughout western Pennsylvania. These groups create a safe space for individuals to share their experiences and find comfort in connecting with others who understand the challenges of grief.

Referral information for grief counseling

For families seeking additional support, our bereavement team provides valuable referral information for grief counseling services. Whether it's for individual or family therapy, we ensure that those in need are connected with professional counselors who can help guide them through the grieving process.

In-person and virtual memorial services

Our bereavement team hosts in-person memorial services with a live stream on Facebookthat allow families to honor and remember their loved ones in a meaningful way. These in-person and virtual gatherings provide a space for reflection, remembrance, and support, no matter where families are located.

Children’s grief services

Grief is often experienced differently by children, and our Blue Elephant program is designed to address the unique needs of young mourners. This program offers a variety of resources, including educational materials, grief camps, and workshops, all aimed at helping children understand and cope with the loss of a loved one.

Grief support groups in Western Pennsylvania

We offer ongoing support group options, all completely free of charge and available year-round. You are welcome to join at any point in your grief journey. While our groups are designed for adults, we can also help connect you with support groups for families and children. If our local groups are not convenient for you, or if time or mobility restrictions make it difficult to attend, we can provide alternative options to meet your needs. For more information or if you have any questions about our support groups, please contact the AHN Healthcare@Home Bereavement Department at (724) 720-1213 or email ahnbc@healthcareathome.com.
