AHN Slippery Rock 1-2-1 Program

Through a formal articulation agreement, AHN Schools of Nursing and Slippery Rock University work together to help students transition seamlessly through each phase of the program and enter the nursing workforce prepared for success.

Slippery Rock University (SRU) offers a 1-2-1 nursing program designed to provide a clear, accelerated pathway to becoming an RN while earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Through this structured partnership, students:

  • Complete general education coursework at SRU during their first year
  • Earn their Registered Nurse (RN) credential at a partnered institution during years two and three
  • Finish their BSN at SRU—on campus or online—by the end of their fourth year

All applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED and must have successfully completed the following high school courses:

  • Mathematics - 2 units (1 unit of Algebra required)
  • Science - 2 units w/a lab (Biology & Chemistry preferred)
  • English - 4 units
  • Social Studies - 3 units

Students must have a B or higher in their Mathematics and Sciences and a cumulative 3.6+ GPA.

What to expect

The 1-2-1 nursing pathway is designed to help students complete their BSN at Slippery Rock University in an efficient and cost-effective manner with an accessible and flexible route to becoming a registered nurse through a partnership with AHN Schools of Nursing. After completing their third year, students will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam and begin working as registered nurses. The BSN degree is completed in an online format that accommodates the schedule of a working professional.

  • Year One: Students focus on general education and pre-requisite science courses required for nursing school entry at Slippery Rock University.
  • Year Two and Three: Students focus on full nursing coursework, clinical rotations and skills training at AHN Schools of Nursing. Upon successful completion, they are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.
  • Year Four: Students focus on advanced nursing concepts, leadership, community health, and evidence-based practice at the SRU campus or in a fully asynchronous online learning environment. Students can work as an RN with passing of the NCLEX-RN.
  • Student will be eligible to apply for graduate nursing jobs at AHN Hospitals in their third year of this educational track.
