The Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at Allegheny Health Network offers a comprehensive 1-year surgical fellowship focused on developing expertise in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery techniques, as well as the overall management of obesity including medical management.
The fellowship will provide the trainee with the opportunity to build an understanding of the unique conditions involved in the care of the patient with obesity. Fellows will develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to assess patients with obesity and develop treatment plans utilizing updated clinical resources and evidence-based practices. Fellows will master the skills necessary to address the constantly changing landscape of metabolic and bariatric surgery. They will be involved with clinical problem solving, patient assessment and formulation of treatment plans and the coordination of health care for individuals with obesity. There will also be ample opportunity to take part in research and scholarly activities.
