Health conditions impacting fertility

There are some health conditions that can impact a person’s ability to get or stay pregnant. These include:

  • Endometriosis. This is a painful condition that causes endometrial tissue, which lines the uterus, to grow outside the uterus.
  • Recurrent miscarriages. This condition is diagnosed when a person has two or more pregnancy losses.
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This is a condition where the ovaries produce a hormonal imbalance that can prevent ovulation.
  • Cancer of the reproductive system.
  • Pituitary disorders, which typically cause hormone levels to be too high or too low.
  • Sexually transmitted infections.
