AHN Chill Project

AHN Chill Project™, a program offered by the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute of Allegheny Health Network, provides comprehensive and multi-tiered behavioral health services to school communities, not only in Pennsylvania but across the United States. Comprehensively meeting the behavioral health needs of a school community can reduce out-of-school placements, decrease behavioral referrals and incidents, positively impact student academic success, and increase teacher wellbeing and retention.

AHN Chill Project™ is an innovative and adaptive model that has been proven to disrupt the pathways of student distress and cultivate a trauma-informed school culture. The program consists of providing comprehensive multiple levels of care within the school setting, including services that have a distinct focus on prevention, providing evidenced-based skill education and practice opportunities to students, teachers, administrators, and staff, as well as offering full time outpatient services in the school setting. A major component of the preventative services is the facilitation of the AHN Chill Room™. All students, teachers, and staff have the opportunity to learn and practice evidenced based coping skills in AHN Chill Rooms™ located and fully staffed with trained behavioral health professionals within each school. As the program is for all students, carefully designed procedures, protocols, and boundaries will be facilitated and routinely accessed to create a safe and learning-centered environment for all individuals who engage in all aspects the program.
