Surgical-type, N95, or KN95 face masks are now required within all AHN facilities. Cloth face masks are no longer permitted, as they do not provide the best level of protection against Coronavirus.

Strength Training Services

From running errands to running miles, strength training services from Allegheny Health Network (AHN) help put your body in a position to withstand the demands of sports and life.

You’ll receive a kinetic chain assessment that will help us build your custom program. You will then receive coaching from a certified strength and conditioning specialist at one of Pennsylvania’s premier sports performance and strength training facilities.

What is strength training?

Strength training includes age-appropriate, science-backed, specialized exercises that will result in muscle growth when done consistently. Using your own body weight, resistance bands, dumbbell and barbells, our strength training methodology provides you the direction needed for achieving results in a timely fashion. It’s important to choose not only sports-specific exercises but position-specific exercises to help you meet your needs.

About our strength training services

Your strength training program begins with a complete evaluation. Our strength and conditioning specialists ask you about the activities you enjoy as well as your performance goals. We run a full kinetic chain assessment on your muscles to learn which areas are tight, loose, weak, or strong. We use this information to develop a personalized strength training plan for you.

Our services include:

  • A 50/50 unique and blended program for injury recovery, where you spend a portion of the session with a licensed physical therapist and the other portion with a strength and conditioning specialist.
  • Focused strength and conditioning training plans for endurance athletes, including cyclists, swimmers, runners, and triathletes.
  • Focused strength training and conditioning plans for overhead athletes, including baseball, softball, tennis, volleyball, swimming, and basketball.
  • A focused strength training and conditioning “knee integrity” program for field and court sport athletes including soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, tennis, basketball, and volleyball.
  • Strength training sessions for active adults to help them regain their fitness, reduce the risk for injury, and get back to their favorite activities.
  • General strength and conditioning training sessions to help active adults avoid injury.
  • Off-season strength training and conditioning programming for teams.
  • Long-term athletic development programs to help youth, competitive, and elite athletes stay healthy and compete at the top of their game.
