Fertility Treatments

The reproductive health specialists at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) understand the challenges of female infertility. Our experts have helped many women, frustrated by infertility, safely and affordably achieve a healthy pregnancy. AHN reproductive health services are provided by the AHN Center for Reproductive Medicine based at West Penn Hospital.

Fertility treatments at AHN: Why choose us?

Our fertility specialists are known for providing compassionate care. We offer:

  • A focus on you: Our program is designed to provide you with a more intimate, personal experience. We take the time to get to know you and your family and understand your specific challenges and needs.
  • Personalized treatment: Because everyone’s situation is unique, we work with you to tailor a treatment that matches your goals and elevates your chances of success.
  • Excellent success rates: Our fertility programs help people achieve their pregnancy dreams using the latest, most advanced in vitro fertilization (IVF) lab technology.
  • Dedicated teamwork: Our team of fertility specialists works with your OB-GYN, family physician, urologist, or other referring physician to manage your health care needs. Meet our team.
  • Surgical expertise: We have special expertise in the surgical treatment of uterine abnormalities, fibroids, endometriosis, polyps, and other reproductive problems. We are a referral center for other physicians, providing surgical care for routine to complex cases.
  • Care for cancer patients: Certain cancer treatments can make it difficult or impossible to conceive a child later. AHN’s Fertility Preservation Fund covers some of the costs associated with preserving and storing eggs or embryos before undergoing cancer treatments.
  • Comprehensive program: In addition to issues related to infertility and miscarriage, we evaluate and treat all types of reproductive problems for women of any age. These conditions include:
    • Endometriosis
    • Fibroids
    • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
    • Pituitary disorders
    • Congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract
    • Uterine abnormalities
    • Disorders of sex development

  • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI): Injection of a single sperm into one egg, with the resulting embryo transferred into a woman’s uterus
  • Intrauterine insemination (IUI): Injection of sperm directly into the uterus
  • Sperm testing: A semen analysis that tests for sperm motility, count, size, and shape
  • Surrogacy: Woman who carries and bears a child for another person or couple

Fertility success rates

At the AHN Center for Reproductive Medicine, we monitor the outcomes of our fertility treatments to continually improve our success rates. Our laboratory has been recently renovated to include the latest technology, including a state-of-the-art air handling system and state of the art equipment. Our goal is to deliver outstanding compassionate care with highly personalized and individualized service, which we believe, sets us apart from other centers.

We take pride in our family-oriented atmosphere and are proud of our impressive results. Please ask us during your consultation about our program, ongoing advances in our program and how we can partner with you to provide the best possible care to you and your family.

The AHN Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM), like other centers across the country, reports results to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Assisted Reproductive Technology National Summary, along with prior reporting with the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). Many factors influence the fertility rates of a clinic, including patient diagnosis and hormone levels. Differences in patient selection, testing protocols and program standards for cycle reporting, may inflate or lower fertility rates relative to another clinic. Our team of experts can help you evaluate all the critical aspects of your fertility.
