AHN Jefferson Hospital Earns the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Joint Replacement

JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa.– Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN) Jefferson Hospital is pleased to announce that it has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for advanced total hip and knee replacement. This designation is reflective of the hospital’s highest standards for quality and safety in joint replacement procedures.

AHN Jefferson is one of just 10 hospitals in Pennsylvania, and one of just two in Allegheny County, to earn the Gold Seal certification for Advanced Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement.

The certification, offered in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, focuses on the quality of pre-surgical orthopaedic consultations, the procedure itself, rehabilitation activities, and follow-up visits with the orthopaedic surgeon.

AHN Jefferson Hospital underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review. During the visit, a Joint Commission reviewer evaluated compliance with related certification standards.

Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
