AHN Named Among “America’s Best-In-State Employers” by Forbes Magazine for 7th Consecutive Year

PITTSBURGH – For the seventh consecutive year, Allegheny Health Network (AHN) has been named one of “America’s Best-In-State Employers” by Forbes Magazine.

This year, AHN is one of 13 Pennsylvania hospitals or health systems to be named among the nation’s “Best Employers.” AHN has appeared on the list each year since Forbes first published it in 2019.

To create the list, Forbes and its market research partner, Statista, surveyed over 160,000 employees working for companies with at least 500 employees in the U.S. The respondents were asked to rate their employers on a variety of criteria, including working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, potential for development, and company image.

The final score is based on two types of employee evaluations: personal (those given by employees themselves) and public (those given by friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry). After the survey is completed, the full list is divided into 51 rankings, one for each of the 50 states, plus Washington, D.C. The list was published yesterday.

“We are proud to receive ongoing recognition as a top employer in Pennsylvania by one of the country’s most respected business journals,” said Mark Sevco, president of AHN. “This reflects AHN’s commitment to creating a supportive environment where our caregivers feel valued, respected and empowered. We believe that when our team members thrive, our organization thrives, and this recognition is a testament to that philosophy.”

Building on its commitment to employee well-being, AHN continues to invest in innovative programs that support clinicians and enhance their work-life experience, particularly for front-line clinicians and bedside nursing staff.

Earlier this year, for example, AHN announced the expansion of its digital nursing program, installing new virtual care platforms to create “smart rooms” that allow nurses to virtually monitor, communicate with, admit and discharge patients remotely. In 2023, AHN earned the American Medical Association’s (AMA) Joy in Medicine designation, signifying its dedication to supporting faculty well-being through evidence-based strategies to address stress and burnout.

AHN, part of Highmark Health, is one of Pennsylvania’s largest employers, with approximately 23,700 team members.

Forbes magazine has been published since 1917 and is well known for its business and finance coverage as well as its popular lists and rankings.
