AHN Saint Vincent Hospital 150th Anniversary Display Opening at Hagen History Museum

AHN Saint Vincent Hospital 150th Anniversary Display Opening at Hagen History Museum

A special display commemorating the 150th anniversary of AHN Saint Vincent Hospital will open to the public on Sept. 5 at the Hagen History Museum at 356 West Sixth St. The exhibit culminates a year-long series of activities marking the hospital's sesquicentennial.

The display features a collection of artifacts from over a century of caring for the Erie community, including a historical timeline, a philanthropy showcase, and artifacts dating back to 1900, including old photographs, vintage medical devices and uniforms, documents, and more.

Following a special preview event on September 4, the public can view the exhibit from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on September 5, after which time there will be a private event for hospital employees and retirees. The display then will be open to the public for several months.

The exhibit marks the 150th anniversary of the hospital's founding by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1875. Throughout the year, AHN Saint Vincent has held a number of activities to commemorate the landmark year, including a float in the St. Patrick's Day parade, a gala, a special mass with the Sisters of St. Joseph, a Saint Vincent School of Nursing reunion, employee and retiree events, and a community street carnival.

The Hagen History Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $7.50 for students, $10 for veterans, and free for children 6 and under.
