Stroke Care at Jefferson Hospital
Jefferson Hospital, a part of the Allegheny Health Network, is certified by The Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center since 2012. The designation applies to hospital-based stroke programs that meet the Joint Commission’s stringent standards for providing quality stroke care that consistently leads to better patient outcomes.
The Joint Commission’s thorough approach to evaluating disease management programs affords the staff at Jefferson Hospital with opportunities to continuously improve their skills and knowledge. The Primary Stroke Center designation promotes a culture of excellence at the hospital and gives the community Jefferson Hospital serves confidence in the stroke care quality they receive.

Jefferson Hospital was most recently recognized with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines Gold Plus Achievement Award in 2015. Hospitals receiving Get With The Guidelines Gold Plus Achievement Award have reached an aggressive goal of treating stroke) patients with 85 percent or higher compliance to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for 12 consecutive months. In addition, those hospitals have demonstrated 75 percent compliance to seven out of ten stroke quality measures during the 12-month period.
