AHN Grove City Hospital Announces $4 Million Expansion of Cancer Institute
Additional infusion treatment bays and exam rooms, expanded check-in area, and more patient privacy features among the planned facility upgrades
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Allegheny Health Network (AHN) today announced plans to significantly expand its Cancer Institute at AHN Grove City Hospital. The expansion, slated for completion by the end of 2025, will more than double the Cancer Institute's existing footprint, growing from 1,145 square feet to 3,854 square feet. Construction of the new facility begins this week.
The project will transform existing space on the hospital’s first floor near the cafeteria into a substantially larger and more patient-centered cancer facility, enhancing the comfort, privacy, and convenience of care for those undergoing cancer treatment.
The $4 million expansion is made possible by a generous $1 million commitment from the Grove City Health Care Foundation.
Key improvements include:
- Increased Chemotherapy Infusion Bay Capacity: The number of infusion bays will increase from six to eight, each featuring private walls for enhanced patient privacy and comfort.
- Expanded Exam Rooms: The number of exam rooms for provider visits will grow from two to three, reducing wait times and improving access to care.
- Larger Check-in Area: The check-in area will be expanded to accommodate more patients and streamline the registration process.
- Convenient New Entrance: A new exterior entrance at the side of the building will provide patients with direct access to parking and simplifying arrival and departure.
“This expansion represents a significant investment in our commitment to providing exceptional cancer care for residents of Grove City and its surrounding communities," said Christopher Clark, DO, MHA, president of AHN Grove City. "Our extraordinary caregivers helped us conceptualize and design a beautiful, healing environment that prioritizes the comfort, health and well-being of our patients, and we can’t wait to open its doors later this year.”
The former Grove City Medical Center became part of AHN in January 2020, and the AHN Cancer Institute opened at the facility on July 15, 2020. Since that time, patient volume has increased dramatically year over year, serving a record number of patients in 2024.
“The expanded Cancer Institute at AHN Grove City will not only improve the patient experience but also allow us to increase our capacity to serve a growing number of patients in need of high-quality cancer care in this region,” said David Bartlett, MD, chair of the AHN Cancer Institute and president of the AHN Research Institute. “We greatly appreciate the investment that the Grove City Health Care Foundation and AHN have made to bring this vital resource to the Grove City community.”
Services available at the AHN Cancer Institute – Grove City include medical oncology, infusion therapy, nutritional counseling, social service support, and access to cancer clinical trials.
The current location of the Cancer Institute at AHN Grove City in the medical office building will remain fully operational throughout the construction process, ensuring no disruption to patient care.
