Karen Faces Her Fears and Overcomes Heart Problems

We’ve been a part of some great stories about real people with real heart problems getting the help they need and beating the odds. We’d like to share some of them with you.

Karen had an aortic stenosis that kept getting worse. She didn’t want a major surgery, so she became interested in the TAVR research program at AHN, which would replace her faulty heart valves. Unfortunately, she wouldn’t be able to wait for that program – her damaged heart started causing internal bleeding.

She went to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment. She was scared she’d have a heart attack. But the doctors made her feel comfortable. They explained everything and were with her every step of the way.

Three blood transfusions later, and her team stopped the bleeding and she was able to move forward with the TAVR program. Now she’s back to making cookies and gardening, but she’s thankful that she put her trust in AHN.

Let us help you keep being you, like Karen and get expert-level care from the cardiovascular team at AHN. Call (412) DOCTORS (412) 362-8677 or request an appointment to learn more about AHN Cardiology services.
