Today’s Jefferson Hospital evolved from what used to be known as the South Hills Health System after Homestead and St. Joseph’s Hospitals joined together in 1973. Now, as part of Allegheny Health Network (AHN), Jefferson Hospital cares for residents of Allegheny, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.
Jefferson was the first hospital in Pennsylvania recognized by the American Heart Association as a STEMI Receiving Center. Its cardiac department has won multiple awards and accreditation for outstanding cardiac care. Jefferson also won the “Get With The Guidelines®” Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement and the Blue Distinction for Knee and Hip replacement.
At Jefferson Hospital, our nurses are known for providing high-quality, compassionate care. Our nursing philosophy puts patients at the center of everything we do. We support patients and families during some of life’s most difficult challenges.
Has a nurse made a difference in your life or the life of a loved one? Show your appreciation by making a donation in his or her honor. Your donation will go toward continuing education and professional development.
At Jefferson Hospital we welcome both new and experienced nurses who want to become a part of our team. You’ll be able to advance your professional knowledge while providing compassionate care. Our nurses enjoy an education-rich environment where you are able to learn new techniques while saving lives.
Our nurses also develop leadership skills through various unit-based hospital governance councils. You use principles of operational excellence to identify problems to improve patient outcomes and experiences.
We encourage the professional growth of Jefferson Hospital nurses. We offer tuition assistance, certification, and the career ladder program. You may also participate in the nurse practice council and volunteer with local schools. We recognize our nurses for their accomplishments through a variety of reward programs.
