Staff and medical professionals cut a green ribbon at a new medical building.

AHN Cancer Institute (AHNCI) has expanded the cancer center at AHN Grove City Hospital, helping patients, families, and caregivers access advanced cancer treatment and support closer to home. The updated space allows the hospital to care for more people and make visits easier and more comfortable for patients and their loved ones.

Growing strong: New resources and treatment options

AHN Cancer Institute at Grove City Hospital treats a wide range of cancers, including lung, prostate, liver, colon, and breast cancer. The cancer center’s expansion more than doubles the size of the original space, adding larger exam rooms and family areas.

The expansion also adds:

  • Separate inpatient and outpatient entrances for more comfort and privacy.
  • Advanced PET and CT scans for detailed images of the body to help find cancer early.
  • A new exam room for injection therapy services.
  • A blood bank for quick transfusions.
  • Updated chemotherapy and radiation therapy areas with the latest equipment for treatment.

These upgrades make it easier for patients to get high-quality care without having to go far from home.

Improved infusion treatments

A big part of the expansion at AHN Grove City Hospital is the addition of two new infusion bays and treatment chairs. Infusion treatments deliver medicine directly into the bloodstream and can be an important part of treatment for many cancers like breast, lung, and prostate.

These new infusion bays and chairs will help the cancer center meet the region’s growing demand for infusion therapy and serve more patients each week.

“With our expanded infusion space, patients can start treatment sooner and receive care in a comfortable, supportive setting,” said Dr. Amjad, MD, hematology oncologist at AHN Grove City Hospital. “Our goal is to make every step of the treatment process as easy and stress-free as possible.”

The expansion also includes larger waiting areas for families and caregivers of patients receiving infusions, since treatments can take several hours.

Collaborative cancer care

The cancer center’s expansion is helping doctors at AHN Grove City Hospital strengthen their collaborative approach to cancer care across specialty areas. From diagnosis to treatment, specialists there work closely with each other and with referring providers to deliver seamless, personalized care.

“Cancer care requires constant coordination,” said Dr. Amjad. “When the care team stays connected, we can make quicker decisions, adjust treatment plans, and give patients a smoother care experience.”

The oncology team often schedules first appointments for patients within a week — sometimes even 24 hours. Through AHN’s network, you can also see specialists across the system for more complex treatments when needed.
