Mark A. Rubino, MD, MMM, FACOG, is a highly accomplished physician and healthcare leader, currently serving as President of both Forbes Hospital and Allegheny Valley Hospital.
Dr. Rubino's commitment to excellence is evident throughout his career. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and his Doctorate of Medicine with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Magee Women's Hospital.
Dr. Rubino is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He furthered his expertise by obtaining a Masters of Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006, where he was later recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2021. Dr. Rubino was recognized amongst a talented group of healthcare executives as a "community hospital CEO to know" by Becker’s Healthcare in 2024.
Dr. Rubino is actively involved in the healthcare community, serving as Chair-Elect of the Board for The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania. He is also a Board member at the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce, Forbes Health Foundation, and Franklin Regional Panther Foundation.
Dr. Shari brings a distinguished career in pulmonary and critical care medicine to his role as Chief Medical Officer for the Forbes Hospital. He has been an invaluable member of the Forbes team, serving as Chief of the Medicine Department since 2022.
His dedication to advancing patient care is evident in his extensive involvement in various practice improvement activities not only at Forbes, but across the network. Dr. Shari's impressive academic background includes fellowships in Critical Care Medicine at Mayo Clinic and Pulmonary Medicine at Temple University. He holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, and Critical Care.
Dr. Shari earned his medical degree from Damascus University in 2000. He played a pivotal role in establishing Forbes's 24-hour intensivist program and contributed significantly to the development and integration of pulmonary medicine programs. He has held numerous leadership positions at Forbes Hospital and also introduced advanced bronchoscopy techniques, such as endobronchial ultrasound and navigational robotic bronchoscopy.
Lynn Kosar, MSN, RN, NEA-BC serves as the Chief Nursing Officer of Forbes Hospital. An experienced nurse leader with practice experience in medical-surgical, intermediate care, and intensive-care, she has held several leadership positions, including clinical director of Inpatient Services at UPMC Passavant, director of Clinical Operations at the Center for Nursing Excellence at UPMC, unit director for the GI Lab at UPMC Shadyside, and executive director of Donor Services at Central Blood Bank.
Lynn started in nursing leadership as the manager of the cardiovascular ICU at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh.
She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Science in nursing administration from Waynesburg University, and an Associate Degree of nursing from the Community College of Allegheny County. Lynn is a certified Nurse Executive, Advanced through the ANCC.
She is also active in professional nursing organizations. Lynn is currently a board member of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders, and a member of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and the Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders.
Kim Semelsberger is the chief financial officer of Forbes Hospital.
Having arrived at Forbes in 2021, Kim brings over 20 years of financial leadership and health care finance experience to AHN. Prior to coming to AHN, Kim served as the chief financial officer at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center and Nason Physician Practices.
Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from Saint Francis University. Kim is a certified public accountant and certified in patient safety.
Jeffrey J. Carlson, MBA, Chief Operating Officer of Forbes Hospital and Allegheny Valley Hospital, is a highly experienced healthcare leader with over 25 years of demonstrated success in various operational roles. Prior to this, Jeff held the position of Vice President, Pathology Institute at Allegheny Health Network, where he was responsible for the development and execution of the network-wide strategy for the Pathology Institute. His previous roles at AHN include Interim President — Allegheny Valley Hospital and President — Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion. Prior to joining Allegheny Health Network, Jeff held leadership positions at Mayo Clinic Health System (Minnesota) and University Hospitals (Ohio).
Jeff is professionally affiliated with the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American College of Healthcare Executives — Western Pennsylvania, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from John Carroll University.
