Nurses across Allegheny Health Network (AHN) follow the professional practice model for patient and family-centered care. It embodies the Magnet® principles of transformational leadership; structural empowerment; exemplary professional practice; and new knowledge, innovations, and improvements.
We also demonstrate these principles through use of the shared governance model as a management strategy. The model works through collaboration and accountability. It enables leadership and nurses at all level to focus on meaningful recognition, relationship-based care, and quality outcomes as reported by the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators.
