AHN Cahouet Center for Comprehensive Parkinson's Care

At the AHN Cahouet Center for Comprehensive Parkinson’s Care, we bring together expert treatment, whole-person support, and a community that helps you live fully at every stage.

A Parkinson’s diagnosis can raise a lot of questions. What happens next? What treatments are available? How will this affect your daily life?

At the AHN Cahouet Center for Comprehensive Parkinson’s Care, we’re here to help you navigate it all with clarity, compassion, and a plan built around you.

You’ll have access to a dedicated team of specialists — including neurologists, therapists, and other professionals who specialize in Parkinson’s care — all working together, not just to manage your symptoms, but to support your quality of life.

A whole-person approach to Parkinson's care

Parkinson’s affects more than movement. It can impact how you speak, think, feel, and live day to day.

That’s why your care at the Cahouet Center goes beyond clinical treatment. We focus on the full picture — so you can continue doing the things that matter most to you.

Your care may include:

  • Expert neurological care and advanced treatment options.
  • Physical, occupational, and speech therapy tailored to Parkinson’s.
  • Movement-based therapies, like yoga and dance.
  • Emotional and mental health support.
  • Help navigating everyday challenges, from meals, to transportation, to pet care.

Start here: The New Patient Symposium

If you’ve been recently diagnosed, knowing where to begin can feel overwhelming. That’s why we created the New Patient Symposium — a welcoming, half-day program designed to give you clarity, confidence, and connection from the very start.

Join us on your own, or bring a care partner. During the symposium, you’ll get:

  • A Parkinson’s 101 education session.
  • Baseline physical and speech therapy screenings.
  • A movement therapy class.
  • Access to support groups and community resources.
  • Time to connect with others navigating similar experiences.

If you’re newly diagnosed and interested in attending the next New Patient Symposium, talk to your AHN Parkinson’s specialist. If you’re not an AHN patient, call us at 412-359-5019 to learn more.

It’s more than an introduction — it’s a starting point for your care and your path forward.

What to expect from your care

Your first visit is all about understanding you — your symptoms, your goals, and your life.

You’ll meet with a movement disorder specialist who will complete a comprehensive evaluation and begin building your personalized care plan.

From there, your care evolves with you. Because Parkinson’s is a progressive condition, your team will:

  • Adjust treatments as your needs change.
  • Check in regularly and proactively.
  • Be available between visits when questions arise.

Along with in-person appointments, we also offer video visits so you can access care and support from home when needed.

Advanced treatment options, thoughtfully delivered

At the AHN Cahouet Center, our advanced care is personalized to you. You’ll have access to a wide range of proven, innovative therapies, including:

  • Medication management tailored to your changing needs.
  • Deep brain stimulation for relief of symptoms like tremors, slowness, rigidity, and involuntary movements.
  • LSVT BIG® and LSVT LOUD® therapies to support balance, mobility, and speech.

Every recommendation is made with the goal of helping you live as fully and independently as possible.

Support that extends beyond the clinic

Living with Parkinson’s doesn’t stop when you leave an appointment — and neither does our support.

With the help of our dedicated nurse navigator, and through our partnership with the Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania, you’ll have access to:

  • Patient and caregiver support groups.
  • Exercise and wellness programs.
  • Educational events and workshops.
  • Food and daily living support services.
  • Help coordinating care and resources in your community.

Together with the Foundation, we’re here to support not just your care, but your day-to-day life.

About the Cahouet Center

The Cahouet Center was founded by the late Frank V. Cahouet, former corporate executive and AHN board member, who was inspired by his own Parkinson’s diagnosis to create a place where others could find expert care, meaningful resources, and a sense of community.

Today, that vision continues — helping patients and families move forward with knowledge, support, and hope.

To help us carry Frank’s vision into the future, learn how you can make a financial donation that provides hope and help for patients with Parkinson’s and their families.
