Board-certified doctors and experienced physician assistants and nurses provide the local, time-sensitive care you need. We treat conditions such as sore throats and sprained ankles, offering the region much-needed urgent care. We also treat serious illnesses and injuries, providing the immediate, prompt care that can protect your health and, at times, save your life.
We pride ourselves on our personalized, hometown care, making you feel like family. The expanded and upgraded emergency department (ED) will allow WMH, part of Allegheny Health Network, to better accommodate its patients from Westfield and the surrounding western New York region, reducing wait times and providing more efficient and effective care in a patient-friendly environment.
Among the investments made in the new facility includes a redesign and expansion of the ED waiting room, the addition of two specialized patient intake chairs, creation of a new ambulance vestibule, four new treatment rooms, one large new trauma room, a physician consult room and new nursing/staff stations. The new department also includes a new Split Flow system that is designed to expedite patient triage and treatment. For walk-in care, we see people in exam rooms, much like at your doctor’s office. This care covers issues such as sinus infections and splinters. We take people with more critical complaints such as chest or abdominal pain to one of our five traditional emergency department beds.
Our recent switch to a shared medical records system means faster coordination and communication within the hospital, so you receive imaging and lab results faster. The system also ensures your primary care doctor receives an update about your care.
When you face more severe illness or injury, our Emergency Department provides a crucial, interim step to protect your health. Rather than travel miles to a larger hospital, we can see you first, to quickly administer time-critical care such as clot-busting medication for a suspected heart attack. We can also provide initial services such as imaging and lab tests.
If you need more specialized care, our affiliation with Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie ensures a smooth and seamless transfer if the patient chooses to do so. We take you by ambulance if you are stable or by helicopter if you need to get there sooner. Thanks to our direct line of communication, you go quickly to the service you need, such as the cardiac catheterization lab.
