The Cancer Institute’s hematologic staff collaborates closely to provide advanced testing for accurate diagnosis and staging of blood cancer. We are leaders in our field, and our program is accredited by FACT for our exceptional patient care and laboratory practices.
We are always looking for the most effective way to battle cancer from every possible angle. So we provide you with innovative procedures, medicines and technology to treat your symptoms and eliminate the disease.
Multidisciplinary approach
We know that working together creates success. That’s why our team of stem cell transplant specialists, hemostasis and thrombosis oncologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurse practitioners, social workers and pharmacists work side-by-side to determine how best to treat the cancer that is afflicting you. Our doctors and support staff attend weekly conferences to discuss patients’ cases and potential treatment options. Your doctor collects input from the group of specialists and develops an all-compassing treatment plan that leads to the most positive outcome.
Progressive clinical trials and research
Our scientists and physicians continually research new treatments and cures that allow us to bring medical discoveries from the laboratory directly to you. These breakthroughs help us to improve cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Focus on you

We don’t have a standard treatment plan for every patient. Instead, we recognize you as an individual who has specific circumstances and needs, and then we develop a treatment plan that’s most effective for you and your particular cancer. We understand how difficult it is to be diagnosed with cancer and how tiring and time-consuming the treatment process can sometimes be. So our goal is to make it as easy as possible on your body, mind and schedule. As an additional support, our 24/7 Care Navigator remains by your side through the entire journey, guiding you and your family to the care and help you need and deserve.

Care close to home
We provide extensive cancer care at our seven hospitals and more than 40 Cancer Institute locations nestled within many western Pennsylvania communities, as well as in Erie, West Virginia and Ohio. This vast network allows us to give you exceptional cancer care and the comfort, security and convenience of being close to home.
