After a serious illness, injury, or surgery, you may not be ready to go home right away. For many patients, the next step is finding the right care and support as you recover. AHN Allegheny Valley Hospital inpatient rehabilitation services help you rebuild strength, gain independence, and prepare to return home with confidence.
Inpatient rehabilitation services support patients who still need medical care after a hospital stay but are stable enough to focus on recovery.
Patients may be recovering from a wide range of conditions, including:
“We build plans around what matters most to you so you can get back to doing what you love,” said Brandon Maharaj, DPT, MS, AHN senior physical therapist. “We’re the bridge that helps you safely move from the hospital back to your home.”
Inpatient rehabilitation services are designed to do more than help you recover. They help you get back to your normal routine.
A doctor with advanced training in physical medicine and rehabilitation called a physiatrist guides your treatment. Your care team may also include:
“This team approach helps ensure each patient makes steady progress and gets the best outcome,” said Maharaj.
Unlike skilled nursing facilities, Allegheny Valley’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Center offers more intensive inpatient rehab. Your daily schedule includes three hours of therapy at least five days a week to help you rebuild and recover.
You may use a range of high-tech equipment during therapy, including:
“The technology we use helps patients build strength, improve movement, and gain confidence as they recover,” said Maharaj.
The main goal of our inpatient rehab programs is to help you return home safely.
To prepare you for your return home, your care team may:
“We want patients and their families to feel ready before they leave,” Maharaj says. “There’s nothing like being home, and we are here to help get them there safely.”
