AHN notifies patients about Change Healthcare cyber event, potential pharmacy impact

On Feb. 21, Change Healthcare, a healthcare technology company, announced that it had been compromised by a cyber event. Change Healthcare disconnected its systems to prevent further impact and as a result, some providers that use Change Healthcare services are prevented from submitting prescription drug and medical claims to insurance companies for payment. The shutdown of Change Healthcare services is affecting health care providers and pharmacies nationwide, including many in Western Pennsylvania.

Allegheny Health Network is closely monitoring this situation and its impact on our patients, and we are working with our pharmacy partners and prescribing clinicians to ensure minimum disruption.

Until the issue is resolved, some AHN patients may be issued written prescriptions instead of electronic ones. Because not all prescriptions and pharmacies will be affected, patients should try to fill their prescriptions as they normally would.

However, if patients are having difficulty filling a prescription, they should contact their physician or provider directly.
